Gastritis Hiatal Hernia

Hi,

I just wanted to share some knowledge here with all you readers.
Earlier this month, I was admitted to hospital and diagnose with gastritis hiatal hernia.
Erm, not fun at all.

Symptom :

  1. Veryyyyyyy painful heartburn. Especially at night when Im trying to sleep.
  2. Back pain. Due to above.
  3. And because of number 1, I can't sleep through out the night. Nade. Non. :(
So, after 2 nights when back and forth as out-patient. Got my jab 3 times. At first, the doctor thought I was just normal gastric and gas. Nope, the last night we're there, I've been told to come the next day for admission to further check my abdomen.

Next morning, went back to the hospital and did ultrasound. Just incase there is a stone at my pancreas and to peek-a-boo whatever down there.HEALTHY!

Next day, meeting my surgeon in the evening. He suggested to do some procedure the next day. I start fasting from 10.00pm till the morning. Very hungryyy.

Procedure and stories:
  1. They jab me anaesthetic and voila I fall asleep.
  2. (Camera goes into my stomach)
  3. I'm awake and the doctor refuse to further inform unless my next of kin are around. Hubs when back home to take some stuff and get some rest. Waiting continues till the next day.
  4. Doctor came in and bring all his photos. Showed me and hubs, explain this and that.
  5. To cut it short and simple, my dynamic between stomach and the oesophagus no longer functional properly. Supposedly, whenever food enters, the valve will be wide open and close back to original state. However, for mine it no longer closed. Forever open...
  6. Since that's the matter, I'm currently under permanent medication. But my surgeon being so supportive. He mentioned that to avoid any operation for the time being if I can cope with the meds, Unless the meds no longer applicable even though the dosage increase, the only he will suggest to perform operation.
What contribute to this :
  1. I believe because of my food and drinks intake for the past two weeks. I've been drinking coffee the whole week. Too much food intake as well.
  2. Spicy food. (Bye :[ )
  3. Sour food.
This problem didn't happen in a day. It probably already there for many-many days/weeks/months/years. Maybe, it just been triggered by my own food and drinks intake.

Way to avoid/Solution :

  1. Stop taking coffee/tea (caffeine)
  2. Reduce spicy food. ( I'm trying to stop)
  3. Avoid chocolate
  4. Avoid any sour food/drinks (acidic)
  5. I reduce my food intake (breakfast/lunch/dinner) Actually, I won't eat 3-4 hours before sleep or just cut off my dinner.
  6. Eat meds
"Falling sick is blessing in disguise. I will take you closer to Allah, allows you to appreciate the blessing of health"

Thank you husband for taking care of me.
